So end of the year in near and you're feeling like you've got a lot in common with the stuffed turkey from Thanksgiving....That's ok, most of us are at this point.
The motivation to get to the gym is slipping as you keep telling yourself you'll go full force after the first of the year. The only thing is, do you have a plan for when that time comes?
If you're going to do this, and not be part of the "resolution" crowd that last through January before slipping back off track. It's time to set your goals now!
Step 1: Make Them Realistic
Don't set goals that set you up for failure, your probably aren't going to have your beach body by February 1st so don't get your hope up when that day rolls around and you haven't seen the miraculous results you had panned out in your mind. Set up weekly and monthly goals to keep you focused on the days ahead of you, and try not to get too caught up in the big picture.
Step 2: Trust The Process
Understand that fitness in general is indeed a process. It may take some time to see results, so don't get discouraged. Keep your mind on the short term and think of each week as a milestone. Take progress pictures each week as a little reminder that you are in fact putting in the work for a long term goal, but DO NOT judge each day by the scale.
Step 3: Don't Forget To Enjoy Life
Probably the most important part...Don't let your life revolve around the gym, instead have the gym revolve around your life. Go out, do things, and enjoy yourself. Take things in moderation and it won't disrupt your fitness goals. It can be very easy to get so wrapped up in your journey that you soon shut out family, friends and anything that doesn't fit within the tunnel vision of your beach body.
Stay focused and keep up the hard work!
